Jessica Sutta (PussyCat Dolls) celeb news
Image by Eva Rinaldi Celebrity and Live Music Photographer Hard Rock Cafe Darling Harbour Media And Celebs Event; Sydney, Australia by Eva Rinaldi The world famous Hard Rock Cafe has returned to 'Sin City' Sydney with a vengeance, based on tonight's launch event at the brand new Darling Harbour venue. Hard Rock put on quite a show and rolled out the celebrities and live music including: Hamish Dodds, Matt Sorum, Dave Rich, DJ Lethal, Stan Walker, Angry Anderson, L Huntly, Sarah McLoed, Hamish Rosser, Altiyan Childs, Kris Peterson and Stim McLean. Most of them had turns smashing guitars, which is a trademark of opening new Hard Rock Cafes. We all know that the cost of living and setting up a business in Sydney is considerable, but Hard Rock is certain their latest Australian venture will be a smashing (as in guitar) success. Sydney is one of the busiest markets anywhere globally for the Hard Rock Cafe, says the global chief of the music-themed burgers and ribs franchise. Hamish Dodds, prez and chief exec of Hard Rock International, advised staffing costs down under in Australia make Hard Rock's Sydney operations expensive compared with other global locations, and they are comparing to its other 172 venues which include cafes, hotels and even land based casinos. Yes, casinos, but Australia's The Star and Crown Casino need not worry, as they have no plans for gaming in Australia - at least not any they are talking about. Hard Rock International is owned by the well known and respected Seminole American Indian tribe, which purchased the global Hard Rock brand in 2007 after successfully running two Hard Rock hotel and casino operations in Florida in the U.S. "For us this is an English-speaking country and people understand the history of rock," Mr Dodds said in Sydney on Tuesday ahead of the grand opening of the 500-seat venue in the Darling Harbour entertainment hotbed. "Part of the downside of this market is it's a mature economy - staffing costs in this market are very different to what we would experience in India. "I would say the price mark-up here is about 50 per cent higher than the US - this is probably one of the most expensive markets we have in our portfolio." Mr Dodds advised the Sydney Hard Rock Cafe was priced at a similar level to comparable restaurants in the area and he expected business to be brisk, averaging between 300 to 700 main meals a day. Sydney would be among the top ten performers in the global network, he said, and among the top five of franchised outlets. Tonight signified a return to Sydney for the Hard Rock franchise, which closed its previous venue in East Sydney in 2007. Mr Dodds said Hard Rock had returned to Sydney with a revised and smarter strategy. He said the former business was in a great location for the 1980s when the brand was fresh and people would go to the Hard Rock Cafe. "Copycats harmed Hard Rock's own business and the market changed to the point where we found ourselves in a B minus location and to a degree we lost a bit of relevance", Mr Dodds said. The firm bought back its Sydney franchise in 2007 and has been revived by director and franchise holder Lennie Huntly, former GM of the Sydney business during the 90s. Mr Huntly, who also holds the franchise for the Hard Rock Cafe in Surfers Paradise, said he had been thinking about re-opening a Sydney Hard Rock Cafe since the last one closed. The waterfront location and views over Darling Harbour are a huge plus and soon a live music stage and 600-person music area will be rocking and rolling. "We are focused on not only being about lunch and dinner," he said. Mr Huntly also has the rights to open venues in Melbourne, Cairns and Perth. Melbourne's former venue closed in 2007, but that doesn't mean it will return with a hit. Well done to the good folks at Hard Rock Cafe and we look forward to meeting up with the great guys and girls there again soon. Rock on. City to Surf Bodypaint New Love celebrity breaking news
Image by Eva Rinaldi Celebrity and Live Music Photographer City 2 Surf news report: Human Statue Bodyart paints Nova96.9 runner Wippa This morning the annual Sun-Herald City 2 Surf fun run took place. It started off wet and windy, but about half an hour into the race weather conditions generally improved. The race was as competitive as ever, but for one major sponsor, Nova 96.9FM, exposure and publicity was of paramount importance - not that finishing strongly wasn't also on the agenda. Nova personality Wippa and a few of his mates got body-painted up courtesy of leading Australian bodypainting Human Statue Bodyart. Wippa was made up with red and black bodypaint and it was impossible to miss the logos from supporters and sponsors including those from Nova, Dick Smith, The Stampede and New Love. City 2 Surf News Report... Liam Adams has become the first back-to-back winner of the City2Surf run since Dickson Marwa in 2006-07, besting his rivals to take out the 14-kilometre race in 00.41.31 minutes. With his biggest challenger, Michael Shelley, competing in the Olympic marathon in London, it was all there for Adams to capitalise. After grasping the lead early from the 8am start, Adams didn't seem fazed by the wet weather and strong winds, snatching a 40-second lead at the 5-kilometre mark and having the race convincingly won by the climax of Heartbreak Hill. With fellow pre-race favourite Mitch Brown on his tail, Adams also left eventual runner-up Harry Summers in a race for second as he entered the back half of the race completely unchallenged. He is the first Australian since Steve Moneghetti in the early 1990s to win back-to-back. "I took the risk in going out and taking it too hard," Adams said. "I actually blew up a bit so I thought I'd made the wrong choice and Harry is an even-matched runner with me. We've got close PBs [personal bests] and I thought he was going to run over me at the end. "I thought I sightly broke him a little bit more up Heartbreak and a couple of those other hills and I just held on for dear life." Some commentators thoughts that Sydney's torrential rain and gail-force winds made it arguably the worst racing conditions in City2Surf history. In 42 years, only twice had it rained during the world's biggest run, but the capacity 85,000 entrants felt mother nature's stormy power. There was early relief when the race started in relatively dry conditions, but by the time Adams and his chasers entered the second half of the event they were met with fearsome head on winds. "It was worse than last year â€" that wind coming into Bondi was tough," Adams said. "I thought I'd be best at cutting the wind but that wasn't quite the case. It was tough." It was forecast to be one of the slowest City-2Surf's as a result, someone didn't notify the 25-year-old defending champion â€" who finished only 20 seconds slower than his 2011 time of 00.41.11 - and women's winner Lara Tamsett, who crossed in 00.46.55. Of course, in the men's field, a number of regular entrants were unavailable due to Olympic commitments, including 2011 runner-up Shelley who will race in London tonight. And in the women's field, the race was wide open with defending Jess Trengove also in London. Instead, it was 2010 winner Lara Tamsett who was the favourite and snatched victory. While none of the seeded or preferred runners came close to Steve Moneghetti's 1991 race record of 00.40.03 minutes or Suzie Power's 00.45.08 set in 2001, the race wasn't without its challenges, with competitors hit by a wet and slippery road and strong head winds. Second for the women's was Clare Geraghty in 00.48.55 minutes and third Abigail Bailey in 00.49.26. Summers and Brown finished in times of 00.42.22 and 00.42.28 minutes, respectively. Many celebrities took part in the race in the name of charity, including celebrity chef Neil Perry, radio personality Wippa, boxer Lauryn Eagle and Biggest Loser winner Margie Cummins. Summertime lunch at Bryant Park, Aug 2009 - 50 celebrity pregnancies
Image by Ed Yourdon Note: this photo was published in a Jun 18, 2010 blog titled "Family dining in DC. Celebrate Kids Restaurant Week, June 20-27." I'm always amazed by the mis-matched "context" in some of the publications of my photos: this picture was taken in Bryant Park, in mid-town Manhattan (that's part of New York City, in case you're from Mars); but the blog describes various outdoor restaurants where families might enjoy a pleasant lunch in Washington, DC. Oh, well... The photo was also published in a Jun 23, 2010 blog titled "A Sandwich At Your Desk Equals a Sad Lunch." And it was published in an Aug 21, 2010 blog titled "Las mejores ofertas de restaurantes." It was also published in an Oct 6, 2010 Health Matters blog , with the same title and notes as the ones I had written on this Flickr page. And it was also published in an undated (mid-Oct 2010) Braces for Teeth blog, with the same title and notes as the ones I had written on this Flickr page. It was also published in an undated (mid-Nov 2010) Cider Vinegar Weight Loss blog, with the same title and detailed notes as what I had written on this Flickr page. It was also published in an undated (mid-Nov 2010) HypnoTherapy Institute blog titled Fat Loss 4 Idiots Review: Enjoy Weight Loss Program." And it was published in a Nov 18, 2010 blog titled "Ever Wondered Why Celebs Lose Weight So Fast? 3 Celebrity Weight Loss Secrets Revealed." It was also published in a Nov 20, 2010 Weight Loss Products blog, with the same title and detailed notes as what I had written on this Flickr page. And it was published in an undated (late Dec 2010) blog titled "wHow do you lose wrinkles after fast weight loss?" Moving into 2011, the photo was published in a Jan 8, 2011 blog titled "RUNNING TO LOSE WEIGHT â€" ONE WEEK WEIGHT â€" HOW TO LOOSE WEIGHT IN 4 WEEKS." It was also published in an undated (early Jan 2011) blog titled "Review of Fat Loss for Idiots." And it was published in a Jan 20, 2011 blog titled "Bookmarks: Reviews of recently released books." It was also published in a Jan 27, 2011 blog titled "Child’s Playroom Requirements." Moving into 2012, the photo was published in a Jan 6, 2012 blog titled "The Best Diet Program | How To Weight Loss." It was also published in a Jan 9, 2012 blog titled "Do you think Hypnotherapy is more effective than psychiatric help?" And it was published in a Feb 9, 2012 blog titled "Latest Lose Weight Hypnosis News," with the same caption and detailed notes that I had written here on this Flickr page. It was also published in a Feb 14, 2012 blog titled "Paul Di Filippo Reviews Ben Marcus." And it was published in a May 15, 2012 Hypnosis blog, with the same caption and detailed notes that I had written on this Flickr page. It was also published in a Nov 18, 2012 blog titled "I’m considering undergoing hypnosis to help with weight loss. Do you believe in hypnosis?" Moving into 2013, the photo was published in a Jan 14, 2013 blog titled "Weight loss with hypnosis and planned pregnancy?" **************************************** I had a lunchtime dentist appointment in midtown Manhattan the other day, and when it was over, I decided to walk a couple blocks over to Bryant Park, behind the New York Public Library. It was a sunny day, and I thought I might see some gorgeous babes sunbathing on the park lawn in their bikinis (even being an amateur photographer is a tough job, but someone's gotta do it). If not, I thought perhaps I'd find some photogenic tourists or oddball New Yorkers that I could photograph. As it turns out, almost all of the central lawn was being covered over with some kind of wooden platform -- presumably for an upcoming concert performance of some kind -- so nobody was sunbathing out on the grass. But since that area was unavailable, and since it was still the lunchtime period, the periphery around the central lawn was chock-a-block with people. There's now a cafe immediately behind (i.e., to the west) of the library itself, and it was doing a land-office business. And all along the north and south sides of the park, as well as the broader western side, there were tables and chairs and benches where people could enjoy their lunch with whatever food or entertainment they had brought along. I was already aware of the pentanque court on the western side of the park, and knew that I'd find one or two good pictures there. But I didn't realize that the Parks Department had set up two ping-pong tables, as well as several tables for chess-players. In addition, there were a few card games underway, and there was also a section set aside for people who wanted to borrow local newspapers to read. As for the people: I had to remind myself that because Bryant Park is smack in the middle of mid-town Manhattan (a block away from Times Square, filling the square block between 41st/42nd street, and 5th/6th Avenue), most of the people enjoying their lunch were office workers. So the men typically wore slacks and dress shirts, and a surprising number of them were also wearing suits and ties. The women wore dresses and skirts, and generally looked quite fashionable and presentable. Of course, there were also tourists and students and miscellaneous others; but overall, it was a much more "upscale" bunch of people than I'm accustomed to seeing in my own residential area on the Upper West Side. I was surprised by how many people were sitting alone -- eating alone, reading alone, listening to music alone, dozing alone, or just staring into space alone. You'll see some of them in this album, though I didn't want to over-emphasize their presence; equally important, many of the loners just weren't all that interesting from a photogenic perspective. So you'll also see lots of couples, some children, a couple of families, and occasionally larger groups of people who were eating and chatting and enjoying the warm summer day. Three activities dominated the scene, all of which were fairly predictable, under the circumstances: eating, reading, and talking on cellphones. You would expect people to be eating at lunch-time, of course; and you wouldn't be surprised at the notion of people reading a book as they sat behind the New York Public Library on a warm, sunny day. But the pervasiveness of the cellphones was quite astonishing ... oh, yeah, there were a few laptops, too, but fewer than I might have imagined. I've photographed Bryant Park several times over the past 40 years, going back to some photos of 1969 Vietnam War protest marches that you can see in this album. I was here in the summer of 2008 to take these photos; I came back in January 2009 to take these photos of the winter scene; and I returned again for these pictures in March 2009 and these these pictures in the late spring of 2009; all of these have been collected into a Flickr "collection" of albums that you can find here. But if you want to see what New York City's midtown office workers are doing at lunch, take a look at what's in this album.

1962 Ad, Debut Album of R&B & Gospel Singer Erma Franklin celebrity names
Image by classic_film Vintage 1960s advertisement for debut album of R&B and gospel singer Erma Franklin, Epic Records, 1962 Tagline: "Her Name Is Erma" Mini-bio on Franklin, via Wikipedia: Erma Franklin (March 13, 1938 â€" September 7, 2002) was an American gospel and R&B singer. She was the oldest daughter of Barbara (née Siggers) and the Reverend C. L. Franklin, as well as the elder sister of Aretha Franklin. Her best known recording was the original version of "Piece of My Heart", written and produced by Bert Berns, for which she was nominated for a Grammy Award. [...] During her childhood Erma and her sisters Aretha and Carolyn sang at New Bethel Baptist Church. Later, when sister Aretha became a recording artist, Erma provided backing vocals and toured with Aretha. Among her most notable back up performances for her sister was on Aretha's signature tune, "'Respect". Erma's own solo recording career was hampered by misfortune and by contracts with record labels who did not find the most suitable material for her husky voice. In the mid 1970s, Erma left the music industry, apart from occasional engagements with Aretha. She was one of the special guests on Aretha's 1986 Showtime cable television special - filmed at Detroit's Music Hall - and also performed on June 28, 1990 at the Nelson Mandela's rally at Tiger Stadium. *************** Playboy magazine, February 1962 - Vol. 9 No. 2 Fair use/no known copyright. Emerald Princess is a Grand-class cruise ship for Princess Cruises that entered service in April 2007. When it debuted in 2007, it was one of the largest ships in Princess' fleet, and it was rightly celebrated for delivering far higher levels of cuisine, service and amenities than you would expect on a modern mega-ship catering to more than 3,000 passengers. Celebrity Eclipse is a Solstice-class cruise ship, operated by Celebrity Cruises. The Solstice Class was recently named "Best Cruise Ships" by Frommer's 2011.
